As soon as the winter hits we all break out our dark lipstick.
The plums, the black cherries and the blackberries. Here is a quick guide for how to pull off dark lipstick without looking like Edward Scissorhands. Unless of course that’s the look you’re going for…

THE LOOKS
Here are a few outfit + hair combos that I think will work well for a streamlined chic look.
COLORS
I think classic, neutral colors like black, white, cream, tan, grey, silvers are no brainers, but don’t feel restricted to just these. A blush tone would be a nice unexpected color to work into this look along with silhouettes with frills and florals (think ultra feminine). If your lipstick has that cherry pigment to look to blue hues. Navy would pair beautifully as well as cobalt. For those more purple plummy tones try something in green, like chartreuse or olive or something a bit more gemstone like jade.
HAIR
When it comes to hair you don’t want anything to done and curled. I think it makes the look a little too specific and can come across as overdone. I think sticking to sleek hair will work best here. A slick back bun, a high pony, a top knot, a center part a la Cher are all really great options to go for.
