The overdue back to school outfit lookbook. AH! A lot of people ask about casual school outfits or back to school outfits and I feel like I am so unqualified to do a “back to school” look book since I’ve been out of high school and college for quite some time. Even then, I had to wear a uniform in high school so I’m really reaching here. Regardless I wanted to show you guys some favorite looks if I were still in school. So while its not really “back to school” (I realize I’m late on that) but rather how I would incorporate the new fall trends for school right now.
This is your guide when you’re over jeans, a hoodie and sneakers as your everyday school outfit.
THE FUTURE GIRL BOSS
My favorite trick for looking like I tried is throwing a blazer over anything and everything. I love the plaid check jackets we are seeing this fall. Blazers automatically give the illusion that we have our sh*t together.
THE “PEOPLE WILL NEVER KNOW I SLEPT IN THIS”
Another popular trend for fall is the track pant. Up late studying? And now you’re rushing out the door to try to make it your first class… this outfit is perfect. Distract from the fact that you’re basically wearing pajamas by throwing a denim jacket over top, comfy mules, jewelry and oh ya you might want some shades until your eyes depuff.
THE “I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR” FIX
Denim can sometimes make you feel like you’re in a style rut because we use and abuse the uniform of jeans, a tee, and sneakers. So what to do when you’ve had it with wearing denim? Double it up! I love this off the shoulder denim shirt featured here, but you can do a denim jacket or a denim button down. Pair it with a cool belt, bag and some killer booties, and by killer I mean comfortable.
THE FIND ME AT THE COFFEE SHOP
There is something so cozy about this outfit that I just want to live in it and spend my days drinking coffee and reading books. I’m obsessed with this sweater. Chunky knits, another fall trend, is such a great piece to play with texture. I love how this looks under overalls. Again still denim, still comfortable, just presented in a fresh new way. I love playing with pattern in shoes so these faux snake booties are a great complement while still staying neutral.
THE ” I CAN’T BE BOTHERED” TODAY
When you have so much on your plate and you can’t be bothered with your outfit reach for a black sweater, jeans and a classic sneaker. I love all three of these pieces because they fit each of the aforementioned categories but they have something unique to offer. An asymmetrical turtleneck, a raw hem detail denim, a patch to add personality and these sneakers can go with everything. Grab your planner and stay focused babe.
THE “I’D RATHER STUDY ABROAD”
In dire need of a change of scenery and itching to travel where no one knows you? I hear you! If you can’t book the flight yet why not start with your wardrobe. Here I mixed in some french aesthetics with elements of my own personal style. A classic button down, clean lines, a newsboy cap (fall trend alert) and clean minimal makeup.
THE “STAY WOKE” ACTIVIST WE ALL NEED
Statement t-shirts are the perfect way to show what you care about. Positive messaging, inclusivity, and political statements have become somewhat of a fashion trend which I actually hate to call it that. But it does excites me because it is at least bringing awareness to important matters and starting that dialogue. Make sure you put those words into action 🙂
