Does the shoe make the woman?
While I’m usually not keen in giving that much credit to materialism, there is some underlying mystical power about shoes.
I get this unexplainable high when I’m met with the perfect shoe, a sole mate if you will. I think its the sense of accomplishment in finding the right shoe that aids the high; like a hunter and its prey.
Whether you want to agree with me or not, slip into the wrong shoe and you don’t feel like yourself. You’re uncomfortable and your feet may feel like they’re shouting at you to fling ’em off. BUT nestle into the right shoe and you feel like Wonder Woman.
Shoes will definitely make or break an outfit, so following up my 10 Wardrobe Essentials are these 10ish shoes that will polish off any outfit. Think of the following shoes as the reliable ones, the ones that will always be there for you everyday, for any event, and any outfit dilemma. We can refer to these as the “dummy shoes” the no brainers that will complete any outfit without any effort. I’m confident any of these shoe essentials will work out for you and you can always refer back to these when you’re unsure of what to wear. While I still urge you to explore the world of shoes and all it has to offer (please join me in my obsession), these shoe essentials will always have your back.

1. White Sneaker
A white sneaker is a go-to for any modern woman. You can wear sneakers with literally anything not just casual wear. Sport sneakers w/ suits, sneakers w/ dresses and yes, even sneakers with couture. 2. Loafer
The loafer is probably the most popular shoe at the moment but has always been around. It is a definitely a no-brainer shoe essential. Created initially for men and adopted by the preps, women liked them so much we pretty much took over (get used to it). Gucci is the big influencer that has brought this style mainstream. The great thing about it being so popular right now is that there are so many options available to us if you don’t want to drop 630 bones. Pair them with anything when you want to look polished yet comfy.

Chelsea boots are a lazy girls dream because of the elastic detail making it easy to slip in and out of. They are the epitome of effortless and cool and gives each outfit just a touch of rock and roll. Just like the Beatles who revolutionized this boot, you’ll be sure to feel like a rock star.

Another flat that is chic and comfy and you can wear with just about anything is the ballet flat. Pair with jeans, dresses and trousers and twirl around with ease. What’s great about a ballet flat is they’re compact enough to slip into your bag. So when you start questioning those heels you slipped into in the AM, these ballet flats have your back.

Consider this your summer shoe staple. If I were a minimalist I would just pack these on vacation. If you choose a nice sleek style you can wear these with anything from your dresses to your swimwear at the beach.

Platforms are heels on training wheels because the platform at the sole allows the actual heel to be cut in half so you’re actually just walking on a 1-2 inch heel while still reaping in the benefits of all the height in the world. Platforms paired with wide leg trousers and maxi dresses are money because they sneakily add so much height.

When you come across an outfit where you don’t think black or nude will work, always look to metallics. The finish also automatically dresses up an outfit if you do choose a heel. You can go with silver, pewter, gold, or rose gold any of those will work. During the day metallics can help give your outfit a pop, just choose whatever shoe you feel most comfortable wearing whether its a sneaker, a boot, a loafer etc. You can hang onto them forever because metallic is a finish that will be around for years to come making it a great shoe staple.

I was just wondering: since I’m dark skinned, I’m really struggling to find shoes that are “nude” so, should I stick with Black or pursue my quest of finding “nude” shoes? Much love, karla
