Mexico continuously wins my heart. The humble and hospitable people are absolutely everything! Their kindness, as well as the colorful and alluring views keeps me coming back for more.
I traveled to Cancun this time around. The vibrant turquoise waters filled my eyes with awe, as the sun allowed the waves to dance and sparkle like diamonds. Beneath me, the soft white sands grazed my toes and I couldn’t help but feel inspired being upon such natural beauty. I traveled with my family and we were able to fit a lot into our itinerary since Cancun has several day trips you can take. We managed to see Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world. After marveling these architectural beauties, I finally got to see the Cenote Il Kil, IRL! I had pinned a picture of this cenote many years ago, so the adrenaline I felt jumping into these waters, surrounded by the most dreamy vines and setting (aside from the bajillion tourists) was next level. I just had to block out the other people there and take it all in, like look mama we made it! The following day we had an adventure packed day at X’CARET, a water park on steroids basically, and the next day we wound down by relaxing at Isla Mujeres, which is just a ferry ride away from Cancun. I also made it out to Tulum and Playa del Carmen for the second time around and fell in love all over again. There is so much you can do in Cancun besides just taking in the gorgeous Caribbean Sea, but I wouldn’t hold it against you if you were to lay in a hammock all day doing just that. Just don’t forget to eat, because Mexican food is life! I had so much seafood, chilaquiles, paletas (ice cream bars), but above everything I really loved the Cochinita pibil, which is the Yucatán style slow roasted pork. Get it! It won’t disappoint.
Here is my photo diary of the days I spent in Quintana Roo.
