I’ve noticed eyebrows for the past couple years growing thicker and thicker, and I couldn’t be happier.
Nothing frames the face best like a good brow.
I love really natural, wispy, full eyebrows, but it hasn’t always been that way. I too was a victim of the 90s, although for the most part I was a “good girl” and actually listened to my mom when she told me not to touch them. But even having them thinner than they are now I would still get made fun for them. I hated my thick eyebrows. I was the petite girl with the oversized brows. My eyebrows, even now, always make an entrance before I do. They’re usually the first thing people notice about me. It’s like “WOW THOSE BROWS!… oh, nice to meet you” When you’re 13 this isn’t so fun, now however, I’m fully embracing this “full brow moment” to its well… fullest. Here is how I groom and maintain my substantial brows.
THE BROW ARTIST
I’ve recently started getting my eyebrows done with Angelina at Neihule in downtown Los Angeles. Girl knows her brows! She’s honestly top notch and super sweet. (Check her instagram here) Since her prices are a lil steeper for me, I try to go to her when I let them grow out a bit as opposed to every two weeks as suggested… So I try to see her every couple months. I let her shape them and then I go to Ziba’s in Glendale w/ Sadia for maintenance. I’ll go to Sadia every 2-3 weeks. She again is the sweetest and cleans up my brows like no one else. I have a scar on by brow where hair doesn’t grow anymore and I noticed it was hard for other eyebrow artists to even out my brows. Although no two eyebrows are ever identical I feel like both Angelina and Sadia get them pretty close and know how to take care of that lil patch. I highly recommend both of them.
THE HOLY GRAIL
I recently purchased Glossier’s Boy Brow eyebrow pomade and its quickly made its way to my holy grail eyebrow product. I don’t really have to fill in my brows because they are so thick, but I do use eyebrow gel to define them and groom them in place (my eyebrow hairs are pretty curly!). Other products in the past have left them flaky, hard + slightly white, but BoyBrow doesn’t! They remain soft, natural, and with some umph. Also with its small bristle brush I feel like I have better control.
So there you have my eyebrow secrets that I get asked about time and time again.. nothing too fancy, just two great brow girls and a lil eyebrow gel.
